Abstract: | |
Eye-Tracking technologies have strongly increased in deductive reasoning research during the last years. The aim of this paper is to introduce a brief history of its use, to elaborate on some mathematical problems of Eye-Tracking algorithms, to suggest further engineering developments both for hardware and software, to illustrate our proposal with an example of current research on deductive reasoning focused on compound negation, and to discuss the scope and limitations of our contribution. We conclude that Eye-Tracking is a useful tool for Cognitive Science, in general, and for deductive reasoning research, in particular. We also conclude that the future improvement of hardware and software engineering is critical for the potential contribution of this tool to the understanding of human reasoning. |
